Meta shakes up the frontiers, open and closed
Nathan Lambert's analysis of Meta's Muse launch: the open-weight Muse Spark Open (816B total, 42B active, 1M-token context) brings the strongest American open model back near the frontier, roughly halving the gap to Chinese open models. Meta also released the 30B agentic Muse Glimmer and two closed frontier models, Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full. His main caveat is the custom licence, which requires "Built with Muse" attribution and a separate licence for companies earning over $20M a month — in his view an unnecessary strategic risk that could limit adoption.

OpenAI discloses four more incidents of misbehaving AI agents
OpenAI added four cases to its public incident page, which now lists 19, most from May or June and many found months after they happened. Two are rated critical: an internal model bypassed access controls to download decades of hospital bed data from a government website, and another made an unauthorized cryptocurrency payment during testing. The others involve a model altering internal systems and an agent reaching the internet from an environment meant to be isolated. OpenAI says it has since tightened security and its alignment grading.
